We are in the vanguard of introducing British second-home buyers to the value-for-money properties taking shape on Spain’s burgeoning Costa de Almeria where new villas and apartments are on offer for as little as half the price of those on the Costa del Sol.

The Almeria region, which is only just being discovered by British buyers, offers spectacular scenery and beautiful beaches which are virtually deserted, even in the height of the summer. The peace and quiet in this area make it specially attractive to UK buyers wanting to get away from it all.

In addition, this little-known region has the best weather in Spain. With 3,000 hours of sunshine annually, it boasts the warmest and sunniest climate in the whole of Europe.
The Almeria region has seen little development to date, so property prices are very affordable. Typically a three-bedroom, two-bathroom villa with a private pool, 20 minutes from the coast can be bought for as little as £150,000.

For would-be second home buyers who thought they would never be able to afford to buy a place in the sun, Almeria is the area to start looking, but they need to move swiftly. In the past three years prices in this region have risen by 20 per cent annually and the upward trend is set to continue. Nevertheless, property prices here are still considerably lower than those further along the coast, in both directions.

Property prices in Almeria can be as low as half of those on the Costa del Sol. It's not very difficult to find reports about a big six-bedroom, six-bathroom villa with a pool on a plot of 2,500 sq metres (more than half an acre) on the Costa de Almeria was bought recently by a British buyer for €600,000 (£404,440). Another, with a floor area of 200 sq metres, a spacious first floor sun terrace, an arched ground floor terrace, 12 metre x 6 metre pool and a detached double garage was snapped up for just €400,000 (£268,300).

Unlike the Costa Blanca and Costa del Sol, this undeveloped corner of Spain is still relatively unknown among people seeking a place in the sun, but as access is improved with more budget airline flights to the region, buyers from Britain are beginning to take a keen interest in what’s on offer.

The region is serviced by some of the major airlines, including low cost carriers. The main airport serving the area is Almeria airport. The area is also supported by Murcia and Alicante International Airport.

Almeria Coast Homes offers buyers an intimate personal knowledge of the market in Southern Spain, built by proffesional team in Spain. We live and work in Almeria, and then we can offer you the best choice. It´s our job.

“The Lost Province”

Unknown to most people, the ancient Andalusian province of Almeria, with its 200 miles of virtually undeveloped coastline, lies in the south-east corner of Spain, less than 100 miles from the coast of North Africa. This historic “forgotten province” is slowly awakening to the possibilities of tourism whilst still remaining one of the most charming regions in Southern Spain.

In all this province covers 8774 square kilometres with a population of 425,000 inhabitants, of which 145,000 live in the capital city, also named Almeria. Traditionally one of Spain’s lost Costas, the Costa Almeria is fast becoming one of the most interesting places to invest in property for sale in Spain.

It also enjoys the warmest and sunniest climate in the whole of Europe, with mid-day temperatures in January averaging 69F and the sun shining for more than 320 days in the year.

Costa Almeria beaches, perhaps the most diverse of all the Costas, have everything from popular resorts to rocky coves which include some of the least visited beaches in Southern Spain.

Inland Almeria has an almost lunar landscape of desert, sandstone and dried up riverbeds and has long been a popular choice for filming adventure and western style epics. This region is classified by some as the only true desert in Europe.

Now Almeria airport is accessible on cheap flights from the UK and the area is within a two-hour motorway drive of Alicante. For anyone looking for the true, unspoilt Spain, Costa Almeria is the perfect choice.
